About Me:

I have been teaching since 2001. I taught in several other public school districts before settling into Medina. My teaching experience includes teaching as an elementary classroom teacher for grades two and three and as a reading specialist for kindergarten through grade eight. I have been working as a reading specialist in the Medina Central School District since 2006.

I am a proud graduate of Kenmore West High School. I attended Canisius College and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I completed my master’s degree at the University at Buffalo as a reading specialist.

I became interested in teaching through a hobby I enjoy. I ride horses and have been doing so since I was a child. I began volunteering as a therapeutic riding instructor in a local program and very much liked helping others find success and learn new things. This experience inspired me to want to make teaching a career.

I continue to be a very active equestrian athlete. I ride several times a week with a trainer to strive to be the best hunter and jumper rider I can be. My favorite place to be, when I am not at school, is at the barn. I enjoy spending time with my horse and riding as much as possible.

I am just as passionate about teaching reading as I am about riding horses. My goals are to help the students I work with to enjoy reading and become skilled, thoughtful readers. Helping readers find that reading can be fun, even when it is challenging, is important to me.
