College Entrance Exams (SAT/ACT)

SENIORS

SAT and ACT Tests

Most 4-year colleges still require students to take at least one of these tests.  You can find the dates and registration deadlines by going to the Counseling Calendar.  Students are encouraged to take the ACT test as well as the SAT as many score better on the ACT, and colleges usually consider the higher of the scores regardless of which test was taken.

Parents of students who take either the SAT or ACT test can choose whether they want the student's scores to show on the high school transcript.  Since most colleges do not "penalize" students for "lower" scores on these tests, we will add the scores to the transcript, to assure that the college will receive them.  Please notify your child's Counselor should you want to discuss.

Students who take the SAT test more than once, can choose which scores they want to send to colleges.  Check out the Score Choice option when you register, for more information.

Online Registration

Students can register online for both the SAT and ACT exams.  Students are required to upload a front facing photo headshot as part of registration.  There is also a wealth of information on the websites that students will find useful.  The websites are listed below:

ACT:  www.actstudent.org

Photo ID and Admission Ticket Required

Students are required to provide a photo ID for both the SAT and the ACT in order to be admitted to a test center on the test day.  Acceptable ID is listed for each exam on the website.  Students must also bring their registration admission ticket which they print following completion of the online registration.
